You must read this interview with the infamous Roy Kesey on Claire Zulkey's webpage -- he always makes an interview sublime reading!

I've am just into Rick Moody's The Diviners. Interesting but hard-to-get-into opening that I stayed with because I know he delivers on his openings. And as I got into chapter 2 and 3, I found myself inspired by his sure hand. He's got a blog at his Amazon page that I had a quick read of-url given above.
The shortlist for the Frank O'Connor Short Story Award:
Charlotte Grimshaw of New Zealand for Opportunity published by Vintage, Auckland. I'll check this title in the Melbourne bookshops and report back for availability.
Miranda July of USA for No One Belongs Here More Than You published by Canongate, Edinburgh. I saw this at the Brunswick St Bookstore. But I think it would be available at most city bookstores.
Etgar Keret of Israel with Missing Kissenger published by Chatto & Windus, London.
Manuel Munoz of USA with The Faith Healer of Olive Avenue Algonquin Books, Chapel Hill.
Olaf Olafsson of Iceland with Valentines Pantheon, New York.
Simon Robson of UK with The Separate Heart Jonathan Cape
Of these, I've eyeballed the Miranda July SSC. I aim to check out the rest. Haruki Murakami won it last year for his Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman.
